1) Vibe Coding-In the previous year's AI Chatbots figured out human language, now they have figured out programming languages and an amateur programmer like me can make sophisticated apps. I actually have a box full of at least a hundred things I have wanted to build over many many years, and I am finally able to do them. Check out my apps here.
2) AICodeKing-For Vibe coders, I think this is the best channel to show how to use new and free tools.
3) Cursor-Cursor is expensive, costing about fifty a month, but I think it's worth it to just pay that amount and have all the vibe coding one needs. There are other tools like Openrouter and are good for lower cost coding however, Cursor is just simple, faster and it understands your prompt's better.
4) Reddit - This has been around forever and when I have used it, it's been for wasting time before, but this year I discovered it to be the best free product testing and improvement site out there. There can be hundreds of forums with different audiences for topics you want to explore. I created a dice rolling app that I started sharing on Reddit forums. From the feedback I was able to fix many bugs and add many new features. Now I think it's the best Dice app on the android Playstore. Reddit is a goldmine for product creators and it's free.
5) Food Delivery-there are plenty of apps, but I mainly use Doordash and it's a convenient way to make money quickly when you are not doing full-time or part-time work for whatever reason.
6) Laughing when you are sick-this year I caught a cough and while sick I watched some funny compilations on the internet and it felt like the best laugh I had ever had, because laughing when it feels like you might choke to death with coughs feels like the best laugh you can ever have. I recommend not wasting it when you have a cough next time.
7) Electrolyte Drink-This year I learned about this thing called snake juice and I created my own version of it. Mixing one teaspoon of salt, one teaspoon of lite salt for potassium and half a teaspoon of magnesium powder into a three liter bottle with 1.25 litres of the Coles orange and passion fruit, lightly sparkling soda water, I got a drink that was three litres and tasted just like coconut water. It's my favourite drink now and it's healthy. I plugged in my diet into the website Chronometer to learn exactly how much potassium, sodium and magnesium I needed.
8) Sardine and eggs omelettes - I had to live on a budget this year and came up with this amazing meal. Four eggs, mixed in a container of mashed sardines, cooked in low heat two tablespoons of butter, until it hardens with some cheese for taste. This is the cheapest high nutrient low calorie meal on a budget possible. It has about sixty grams of protein and fat and if this is eaten twice a day it will cost less the $50 per week. Plus, cleaning is super easy, with no splashes and the mixture does not need to be babysat while it's cooking. It's extremely satiating too so with two meal a day and you would get 120 grams of protein and fat; I was never hungry eating this and was staying a thousand calories below my RDI.
9) Movies - James Gunn's Superman, Thunderbolts, and.Frankenstein by Guillermo del Toro, with Frankenstein being the best of the three.
10) TV Shows - Pluribus, Murderbot, Blue Eyed Samurai, Shogun and Dexter Resurrection.
11) ReadEra app - specifically it's dictation app, it's amazing for listening to books while you are driving or doing something that does not require much mental work but will keep your hands and eyes occupied. The advantage of the app just reading highlighted paragraphs at a time is that it's easy to rewind back to a missed point unlike long audiobooks that don't have such short breaks.
12) Tech-There is plenty of great tech, Samsung folding phones are now perfected and feel so normal in hand that it feels like it's been an everyday part of life forever. There are all sorts of AI tools for voice video and images, too many to mention. But the only tech that got excited about was Fervo Energy. Fervos promise is that they can produce base-load energy anywhere in the world by using fracking technology to tap into the earths heat. Think about how crazy that would be: with geothermal energy, nothing needs to be transported to the location so the world can be done with coal diesel and natural gas for energy and it won't be intermittent, so solar, wind and tidal power can be done away with; dams for energy could be done away with as well so no more countries will be blocking water supplies or flooding land for energy. It's crazy cool tech and I hope it's not vapour ware.
